I do UI programming for AAA games and I have opinions about adult games

I'm still frustrated at fallout being all dust and grime and awful sheet metal shantytowns
Like... most of the fallout games take place at least two centuries since shit happened. And people had a long long time to go and find some fucking paint >_>
IDGI man if you add trees and fit the supermutants with tactical gear fallout is a straightforward depiction of most of America. Like half the structures in my neighborhood have been decaying uninterrupted since ~1930 are people waiting until the bombs drop to spruce them up
i hate it, it makes no sense. it just doesn't hold water that absolutely nobody ever dredges up a mop. were mops destroyed preferentially by the bombs
As if you weren't going to spend hours reading every single book on some random NPC's shelves
I always thought that was the environments team trying to look busy to justify existing while waiting on some breaking change that delays the game for 20 months or whatever keeps happening at activision
the earlier Treyarch games have always been very detail heavy though, because their single player maps tend to be more plodding and deliberate than the infinity ward etc ones, World at War in particular but some of the blops still followed in those footsteps
