I've always wondered, why do guys love to cast losers as sex game protagonists so much anyway? It's gotta be more fun to write somebody like Simon from The Last Sovereign or [Main Character] from Superhuman, right?
The simple answer is that stories are about friction, which creates drama. Giving someone a narrative arc when they start as a loser is much simpler because it gives you plenty of opportunities for growth and character development. Making the Main Character start out as a Sex God straight away can also be fun, but it gives the writer a Superman Problem: If they already know everything about sex, what is going to be the narrative friction that makes for a fun and engaging story?
