A few weeks ago, some ne'er-do-wells broke into my shed and stole all of my power tools, including my jigsaw, electric drill, circular saw, and electric sander. And while I am not financially devastated by this crime, I can't just drop €500+ on new power tools. Instead, I only replaced the essentials for now, an electric drill and a jigsaw. But this saw type has one serious downside: It can do every cut except a straight line.
The first task for any shop is to build the shop itself. I wanted to build this rack first to have somewhere to store all the random bits of wood I need. The three holders still have to go up on the wall, but that's a job for tomorrow.
The first picture is from this morning, the second from late November. It's amazing how much a simple piece of furniture can declutter a space! ✨
I made a bunch of stupid mistakes, but that's fine since this was an extremely low stakes project. For example, I shouldn't have pre-drilled the mounting holes. When I tried mounting the first rack, the holes didn't line up nicely with the bricks, causing my drill to slip and the holes to misalign. For the subsequent mounts, I first lined up the rack on the wall and then made a mark for holes that lined up with the center of the bricks.
How much weight can this rack actually carry? No idea, but they take over 40 kg of scrap wood without bending in a scary way. I'm excited to flesh out the rest of the shop now! 😊
