I've been slaving away at my adult game's prototype for the past few days, and I think I've reached a breakthrough. The most consistent feedback I've received so far is that the game is a bit on the easy side, and I agree. But when I set out to create a spicier challenge, I found that I could not beat it myself! It was only after much experimentation with the balancing, the game mechanics, and after adding a health slider that I was finally able to beat my own game. If you're up for it, please let me know what you think: (playable in the browser, no NSFW imagery)

Played a bunch of rounds, enjoyed it! Before I give my piece can I ask, the game you have in mind will be a deck builder where you collect and control what cards go into your deck (with the randomness that comes with roguelikes), possibly have different builds, etc, right?

You're right on the money! I envision a rogue like deck builder where you gradually change your deck with new cards after each encounter. If you've played Slay the Spire or Cobalt Core, exactly like those games. ☺️

sick, ok so!
I really really really liked the fact you're focusing on just lust damage. You're a []cubus! It should just be that! There's SO many porn games, even deck builder ones that do the separate damage systems and I've never been a fan because most of the time it's like..."hey we put actual thought into the combat combat but if you choose to win via lust then you don't get to play The Game." So God Yes I'm glad to finally see one that's Just lust damage from the player. It's consolidated, I won't lose out on an entire half of the game I'm playing, hell yeah.

From what I've seen the statuses make sense, the resources seem fair. It's hard to comment on the balance since it's always the same deck, so I don't get the benefit of finding better cards or getting upgrades earlier, but as it is I think it's fine. I like how much thought I have to put into resource management: Do I spend stamina on binding both attacks or do I bind one and go for more damage? I can definitely see how much depth this can have to the point my brain was just going through the possibilities.

I really like the way you handle the sexual moves. Gameplay wise I can hit whatever with whatever, but doing things optimally is also hot and makes sense. (I also like that when these cards get art, they'd kinda Have to be sexy art? There's a weird amount of unsexy art in porn deck builders. Like yall you have the PERFECT media to show some sexy art, what you doin?)
It's rare to see a gameplay system like this where it actually lends itself to being hot to play!

One suggestion, from somebody that's played too many rougelike deck builders: please put a deck card minimum if you haven't already. The amount of games I've cheesed by doing a mill strategy that gets patched out after I already beat the game is more than Just a Few. Unless you don't mind people breaking systems over their knees, which is valid.

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback!! I'm glad to hear the game is resonating with you. After seven years of struggling with my previous game to make it both sexy and compelling, I'm crying tears of joy at this comment:

You've also exactly picked up on my design goals, which makes me really happy!! :host-plead: For instance, the game is intentionally asymmetrical. Your Lust Demon raises the Pleasure gauge with magic, and your enemies lower your Endurance with physical attacks. There are no healing or defense cards because those would distract from Attack, Attack, and More Attack. Every card you play is about being a sexy, powerful, and dangerous capital D Demon. 😈

When it comes to sexy art, that's exactly my intent! I'm still looking for an artist, so please send anyone interested my way!

Will do! I will have to look up what a "mill strategy" is, though.

Hell yeah hell yeah

Also, a mill strategy is when you want to discard as many cards as possible on purpose. Since it's common to have the discard piles shuffle back into the deck once the deck runs out, it can be abused like this:

  1. have a small deck, usually hand size + 1-3
  2. have a combination of cards that draw, cost zero energy, or refill energy
  3. playing them in the right order will cause you to refill your deck from drawing, and give you enough resources to attack infinitely
With a deck count minimum, you can still have these strong cards that enable cool strategies and resource management, without it breaking the system.

I played a few rounds, it's pretty fun and I like the theming!

I think the cards would benefit from a Slay the Spire-type visual layout with text for effects and corner icons for both energy and damage. I found myself re-reading my hand a lot to sort out what damage and effects I could had.

In terms of the gameplay, I felt that the difficulty was balanced enough to be interesting without becoming frustrating. Paying attention to my moves I didn't have much trouble beating the three encounters, but I had the feeling that carelessness would be punished.

This seems like a really solid system to build a broader game structure on; I could see, for instance, choosing to play with a handicap in a certain fight to unlock a powerful card or getting curse cards that have double-edged effects.

Also, I'm interested to see how you build out the world and player character. I've seen a lot of good lewd fantasy settings recently (have you checked out Incase's GrimLewd works?) and I'd love to see the demons here have some more personality than the one-dimensional goon archetype they usually get stuck with. I recently read C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters (odd material to bring up, I know) and I think he writes deliciously evil but logically thought-out demons in that tome. And who knows, maybe that could inspire some broader narrative aspirations, assuming you're into that sort of thing.

Overall, I'm excited to see where this project is headed, and you should definitely let me know if you're fishing for artists because I'd love to contribute to a project like this!

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback! You're absolutely right that this prototype has terrible UX; its purpose is to prove that the gameplay works. However, I'm also working on a proper UI design for the real game. Thank you also for the art and book recommendations; I will definitely check these out. And yes, please get in touch if you would like to do the art for this game!! My Discord is in my bio, or you can drop a message to mrhands31 at gmail
