Last night, I volunteered at my local community center to help combat "energy poverty." This is when you live in housing that is badly insulated which causes your energy bills to skyrocket. (Poverty looks very different in the Netherlands, okay) The purpose of the event was to try to get people to sign up so that we could help improve their homes with things like adding radiator foil, replacing light bulbs with LEDs, and installing radiator fans. I made a signup form in Figma on Tuesday, and we managed to get our first two clients ever. 😊🛠️

Turns out you can Just Do It™! I got a flyer in my inbox about a meeting, I showed up, and then I signed up as a volunteer. 😄 Although my intent was to put metaphorical nails in boards, when someone said "Hey we need a signup form maybe" I was like "I'm on it, chief 🫡"

That's really cool! My state also has a program like this--it's pitched as more of an environmental than a financial program, but it involves similar interventions.
