I finished two new French cleat holders last night. One for my chisels, and the other for my lamp. 😊
After strategically putting the top of the board out of frame for the past two weeks, I've finally gotten around to putting the cleats up to the ceiling! Although they are slightly different in size, I've spaced the top of the cleats exactly 15 cm apart. Now, as they say, I have to draw the rest of the fucking owl, and make some more tool holders. ☺️
I like French cleats but my customers always wanted them for the worst applications. our shop was commissioned to make these giant custom French cleat-backed art display shadow boxes, six feet tall and three wide, two inches deep, 1/2" and 3/8" acrylic and I had cold sweats imagining that kind of weight hanging from cleats made of acrylic. They were so heavy and unwieldy that moving the box on the worktable took two people.. and they were just mounting the rail (also made of acrylic, of course) with regular wall anchors.
