this is really interesting to read! i feel like i had a similar "problem" when designing my fursona, wrt the desire to portray both something that feels true to me (my body type, attitude, behaviors) as well as something that was more for fantasy and fun, even if that meant changing up her body shape or personality a little in ways that aren't "realistic" or not "me" most of the time. i ended up with a tanuki, which gave me a good excuse to have it both ways! something like this, a chimera animal or one that's just been socialized to behave in a different way, is a really cool concept too!
