i was possessed by a strange mood and spent 22 hours making a winamp skin!!!

i'm actually using this for audacious currently. i'm chalking it up as a medical need. creating an appropriate environment for direct self-administration of breakcore (first line treatment for adhd)

i learned a lot from this experience. before the era of flat design, apps used to be so full of bespoke pixel art... i was able to figure out most of what i wanted to do just from playing with the app and using other skins from the museum as reference, but if you dig deep into the skinning tutorials there's so many funny nuances and bugs and edge cases that skin creaters have encountered and had to deal with over the years. a skin is comprised of opaque .bmp files and also a couple of text files which are lists of colors in two completely different formats. you can rename the file to a .zip to check out the contents but i forgot to include a readme file or anything

you can download the skin here: https://cube.gay/misc/bippyamp.wsz

it really whips the bippy's ass!!!!!!

browsing the skin museum feels transcendent. i really miss apps like this! i miss when every inch of every piece of software i could interact with was customizable in some way, or if not customizable then at least so eccentric and idiosyncratic that it felt like a statement in its own right. i love surrounding myself with art!
