β€œThe problem with AI is the people who use AI. They don't respect the written word,” Dawson told me. β€œThese are people who think their β€˜ideas’ are more important than the actual craft of writing, so they churn out all these β€˜ideas’ and enter their idea prompts and think the output is a story. But they never bothered to learn the craft of writing. Most of them don't even read recreationally. They are more enamored with the idea of being a writer than the process of being a writer. Sympathy for Dawson there. Hopefully some space from these jerks will benefit them. Reading about the 30 plus emails they received that day, despite having closed submissions, is giving me second hand stress. I don't think the folk churning out AI slop are gonna be the folk who you want to be receiving unsolicited emails from.
