A cicada nymph decided to climb up the tree we had our hammock hanging from and then halfway down the hammock strap before deciding that was the perfect spot to abandon its shell and turn into an adult.
It took about four or five hours before it was fully out and we waited until it was done before taking down our hammock. No pictures of the adult/teneral cicada because by the time it emerged it was dark, unfortunately.
It takes cicadas a few days to harden completely but we moved it very carefully so we wouldn't damage its wings.
I just love that we were having a normal afternoon shooting the shit and drinking radlers and this other creature was having the most important moment of its life right next to us
