How are you supposed to color match vinyl siding? Realistically? All the recommendations I'm finding are "take a piece of existing siding to a store".

Just...peel off a chuck of house and bring it in?

I mean, I guess it's possible, but seems weird.

Hmm... I would assume that would be a good strat if you originally installed the siding, just like my family kept the original cans of paint mix in the closet. If I were you, I would get a bunch of paint chip samples from the hardware store and eyeball from those.
