(1) This is a good deal, especially if you need a comparatively reliable and feature-rich vector art tool. I was able to entirely eliminate Adobe from my workflow thanks to this suite, and it's served me well for years. Both Photo and Designers are solid products that do almost everything I could ask for with good interoperability.
(2) Affinity's recent acquisition by Canva is a stark reminder that any commercial software you love runs the risk of being poisoned by capital as time goes by. For productivity software that you rely on professionally for which you have a permanent license, don't delete your installer. Stick it on an external drive with a copy of its license key and hang onto it in case the parent company is ruined by future greed (such as always-online operation, or blockchain/web3 nonsense, or noxious AI bloat). As much as I've been a fan of Affinity until now and continue to hype up their product as a good alternative to Adobe, I'm still hedging my bets because the tools they provide now satisfy my needs. Worst-case scenario, I can always roll back to the installer version and use my firewall to block access to updates.
