I wanted to add some flecks of color to these before filling in the runes, so thought I'd try the spatter technique of loading up a brush with paint and flicking the bristles.

I think it worked okay once I got the hang of it. Though, I need to keep a better hold on the brush when I do it. Eihwaz there in the top left might have gotten a little more than it bargained for thanks to me dropping the thing...

Lined! None of my brushes were sized right for the indents, so I would up just dipping a toothpick into the paint and rubbing it into the engraving. Worked pretty well!

I think the two tones of gold-ish metallics really offset the white base nicely for these. I was considering a dark wash over them, but I think the spatter plus their natural roughness is a pretty good amount of texture as is.

I'm pretty disappointed in my tweaks to this. I wanted to add some subtle silver edging randomly along some of the lines, but my shaky hand just bit me in the ass again... Just blobby splatters...

Doesn't fully ruin it, but it doesn't help at all. Bleh. BLEH.

I'm Cody and I do a variety of mixed media pieces, plaster/resin casting, and paint pouring!
