Wanted to use up the rest of this block of DAS, so thought I'd try seeing how it behaves in a mold. I'd seen some videos of folks doing this to make embellishments for other crafts. I'm not sure how well it'll work, but that's what experiments are for~ :eggbug-devious:

Still had way too much clay left over after filling this old blocky rune mold. Grabbed another oldie, this vegvesir plate mold, for the rest. Both are pretty worn out, so I'm not going to cry if anything goes wrong with either. It really does show how tough it is to smooth out DAS clay, though. That's about as even and level as I could make it after 15 minutes of squidging and pressing.

No clue how long it will take either to dry, even if they fully do. Might have to gently demold after a day or two to try getting some air to the inner surfaces.

Well, these are definitely results?

I took a good bit of effort with the runes to try and make sure all the corners were filled but there's still some gaps. Tearing, too. The faces were still a bit damp and didn't all come away neatly. Should've dusted the molds with corn flour, I'm told. Ah well.

It's all a bit ragged, but I can't say I dislike it? Kind of gives them a rustic feel. I'll probably try it again with some other clay types to see how they differ

Giving these lil' guys a few layers of Mod Podge while it rumbles outside.

I forget that DAS is actually paper based. There were a few little stray fibers sticking out here and there after sanding. I wonder if that helps act as a binder?

It works! Painted The Contraption with a few coats of basic black acrylic. The was a fair amount of watering down and stirring in there as well, but it seems like the top coat held up just fine after wiping it down.

Very pleased :eggbug-uwu:
