today's "mouse": Last year when my partner and I visited western Virginia we happened to notice this vole at one of the scenic viewpoints along the Blue Ridge Parkway. That isn't really a mouse-- it's part of a different genus! However, it is sometimes referred to as a field mouse or meadow mouse as a common name, and it's still small and cute, so maybe it half-counts... 😅
