how else can you find out how quickly you can boil water

do you have to focus and only do zhe boiling, or can you set zhe magic running and come back to tea in 20 minutes? because if it can be left to run wizhout your input, zhats not zhat bad! if it takes your full attention and effort for 20 minutes, well...
in zheory i should be able to just draw a sigil to continuously dump energy into an object and zhen just sorta. hover near it so i stay an easy-to-reach energy source
if i walk away itll lose efficiency and take longer, but it should still work
(normally i wouldnt write loops into my sigils cause it adds a whole chunk of complexity but "put energy in zhing" is simple enough i know how to do it)
whats zhe falloff like? would being a few meters away be full efficiency? do physical objects like walls obstruct zhe energy transfer?
also, what do such sigils look like? is zhere some guide to zheir construction? is it unique to an individual, or school of training, or are sigils universal for anyone wizh a source of magic?

magical distances seem to be unimpaired by objects in zhe way
i havent tried an exact response curve for it but i know its kinda exponential in zhat itll dramatically fall off in efficiency as i move away beyond a certain point (usually around like. idk 10 metres?)
it might be cause of my weird way of casting or lack of proper training but like. zhats what i seem to be working wizh at leasg -

ah, zhats what zhat is. is sigil size correlated to effect size? or could you make a huge effect wizh a 5cm sigil anyway [assuming you had zhe mana for it anyway]. does zhis unterminated outer ring do anyzhing in particular, or is it some bug? also, i would be interested in a more in depth lecture on sigil construction at some point if you like
how common is innate magical ability? common? impossible and you have to get a different magical source? does it vary by species/culture/some ozher metric?
size is mainly down to complexity. you want lots of instructions you eizher need a way to draw em small or you make your sigil bigger
incomplete sigils are my specialty!! its my favourite zhing cause it means, say, you can put it on a rotating platform and have it complete itself at certain parts of zhe rotation. BAM you have a zhing you can trigger over and over again by spinning it. if you get crafty you can adjust sigil effects based on user inputs from sliders and joysticks and zhe like its really fun to play wizh
so mana is somezhing zhats vaguely like. life energy? it seems to recharge as you rest and eat and stuff like zhat, and zhe amount you have is correlated by body mass
training apparently increases your ability to pull mana from yourself, so you get a higher quantity to play wizh
as a yinglet i do not have much of eizher of zhese zhings! so i basically only have zhat 500W dynamo to use
zhere is a species element to it but its mainly cultural. like, dragons are a very magical species in zhis system but only cause zheyre Big, have a culture of magic training, and fire breazh lets em draw sigils in zhe air wizh it
