Btw if any of you feel self conscious about your building skills, just know that my little brother built a Hi-v Gundam and cut the parts out of the runners with a nail clipper. He didn't even sand the nubs. I don't know if this is more cursed or less cursed than the time I bit down on the arm of my RG 00 Gundam just to get it to fit onto the socket, but it's at least kind of bad.

when i was building my custom variant of the hg reborns i forgot to sand down any of the pegs or holes on the armor before i primered and painted all of it and i literally had to put a towel over the legs and stand on them to get the thigh pieces to fit together
I mean... I'm guessing it kinda worked though since the finished product looked good? I had similar struggles with my very first kit. I almost broke Virtue's knee joint 😔
See I think this is just how you’re supposed to do it. One of the domains in the realm of sickos.
before i got my proper nippers, a toenail clipper was what carried me all the way through a good chunk of HGs, two MGs and the Perfect Grade Unicorn. when you don't have something better at hand, nail clippers sure do a wonderful job at the thing they are designed for, clipping (though they seriously lack maneuverability! don't ask how i clipped out the pg unicorn's hands - i still don't know to this day)
Eh, i used to pull pieces off runners on Master grades and such as a teen. We've all gotta start somewhere.
And don't discount the tooth vice! It's a last resort, sure, but you use the tools you got, and you've probably got pretty decent control over the pressure you can exert. I've put a lot of Frame Arms elbows and knees together that way; they have an exceptionally tight fit.
