Oh wow. I remember trying to play one of these games when I was a kid, and just not being able to figure it out. I suppose they have much better translations by now. Maybe I should try another?
This is 8, which is 20 years old now but it's probably the easiest one to get into. The translation is still not great, and the localization needed a proofread. Since you don't have to play as a ruler, you can get used to smaller parts of the game at a slower pace if needed.
