There's a new Tiny Toon Adventures remake on (HBO) Max, titled Tiny Toons Looniversity. I watched the first like five episodes this morning, and you know what? I rather enjoy it. There's a bunch of changes from the original, but it keeps a lot of the same spirit. It still focuses on the toons learning from Looney Tunes stars and emulating the short of humor from those old shorts, while giving it a more modern angle. It focuses on Acme Looniversity more than the original, with all the episodes taking place there, and it's more of a college now, as opposed to the high school feel of the 1990 series. The characters live in dorms on campus rather than having their own separate homes, living with their families. And while the series does still focus mostly on the main four from TTA (Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hampton) they also added Sweetie Bird as a major character, upgrading her from just being a pet belonging to either Elmyra or Mary Melody, depending upon the episode. I do like the choice to take one of the lesser utilized toons and give her a bigger role. Other familiar characters do make appearances and sometimes have an effect on the plot. The biggest change, however, comes from Buster and Babs, who are now twins instead of love interests. It's a weird change to me, partly because almost every episode of the original series would feature the two introducing themselves, followed by the catchphrase "No relation." But besides that, their relationship was a major part of the dynamic, with several episodes that really explored them as a couple. Five episodes in, I've adjusted to the change, but it's still weird.

Overall, I'm enjoying the show so far, and I will probably finish the first season at some point. I feel like this show will be added to the list of things I want to make a YouTube video about but never will have time or energy to actually make.
