between the recent baten kaitos remaster collection & the star ocean 2 remake next month, we're back in the golden age of motoi sakuraba rpg scores~
while i often feel his style gets oversaturated pretty easily it's such a nostalgic feeling revisiting both games' osts!!
i'm just waiting for an eternal sonata remaster now ...

I’m glad the SO2 remake lets you play with the original score; the arrange feels like it’s missing a certain essential Sakurabism.
yeah! i felt the same way. the orchestration feels so smoothed over, whereas the original has so much hardware reverb & high end sparkle that really makes it feel like star ocean
bless baten kaitos, both the game and the score... weirdo card battle rpg is an essential path to my heart. and there's some of sakuraba's best work in there too. "chaotic dance" really grew on me over the years as a beautiful little oddity. looking forward to picking up the remaster myself

I played through the original game earlier this year and the entire soundtrack really stuck out to me! I gotta say this is probably one of my favorite Sakuraba soundtracks. Especially stuff like Chaotic Dance, Castle in the Sand, Metallic Stroke, The True Mirror, it's all so good
