A while back there was a tweet like "eventually you stop caring about all the discourse and fandom drama and start caring about making your apartment nicer" and I've really been feeling that this year.
People on bluesky were vaguely ranting about some new furry bs last week and I was delighted to have absolutely no idea what any of them were talking about
yeah it's... freeing
i feel like social media burnout kinda swung me too hard the other way (im disconnected from local+domestic news/events that i probably should at least know about) and at some point im going to need to figure out that balance, but maybe that can happen after my brain starts working again
I'm generally finding that anything I actually need to know gets shared to me in chats by people who haven't unplugged themselves yet

This is kinda true! But it tends to work better for big US and world news and less well at a more local level - or even really provincial, unless it's really big provincial news.
