RIP. Looks like the website of my local Halifax internet cafe finally shut off last year.
...for context, it had been closed since 2002. For some reason, the website stayed online for 21 more years without a single change.

A hideous fruit, disgracing itself.

Just looked up some info about internet cafes and omg, one of the very first was in london and called Cyberia - a name I thought the creators of lain made up!
Also it's kinda wild how internet cafes really didn't.. survive for very long, huh. It seems like they blew up and died up in less than a decade.
Yeah, I feel like that period where people didn't have home computers, or home internet, was over pretty fast?
Gaming internet cafes lasted a lot longer IME, at least in cities with big Asian populations. There are still a few around where I live.
What a beautifully 2002 website, too. RIP.
I'd love to dig up some of my local internet cafes' websites from back in the day. I'm sure archive.org must have some, just a matter of finding 'em.
