Phantasy Star 3 was one I got stuck in and couldn't figure what I was meant to be doing and gave up. This time, I've realized that was actually really early in the game because they don't signpost for shit. It's a really interesting setting and concepts with the generational aspects but this game kinda sucks ass to play. Going back to 2 and iterating on the menu and battle systems in that for 4 was the right move.
I think it would be neat if PS3 got a modern remake that is actually fun and well balanced and got to flesh out the interesting ideas in here.
#1 would be making the monitor way more useful by showing you a world map that isn't a vague blob.
#2 for the love of god the walk speed
#3 more NPCs, maybe a party chat reminder system for hints. There's like 4 people wandering around every town, which all use the same tileset.
#4 why are techniques so gd weak? There's definitely the kernel of something there with tuning your techs, but the melee/damage class are basically not worth using because they do so little damage.

#6 which maybe should be #1 but I cheated myself a bunch of money and bought the weapons you normally couldn't buy yet without absolutely insane levels of grinding: completely retune random encounters, the bosses are fine so far why is every random encounter so hard why are the little birds capable of murdering you shitless and only give you 1 xp and 1 meseta each???
#7 keep the weird enemy designs I love them. I don't know why the desert is infested with sad chihuahua snails that want to murder me but they're great.
