kamen riders been angling for their women audiences wallets for a while now, as anyone who knows anything vague about the series will tell you, but i’m dying at the new gacha just announced for it being a huge blaring neon sign that says FUJOSHIS PLEASE GIVE US YOUR MONEY
like sure it’s done by liber, a joseimuke company, but they’ve got actual rider staff on it too (which is nice at least instead of fobbing it off on to random contractors). but the rider staff in question are yuya takahashi and naomi takebe. takebe has been on a lot of stuff so i wouldn’t call her presence fujo catering in itself - though she has worked on a lot of the extremely fujo-popular riders - but takahashi! my god! even if his reputation has cooled a bit in the english fanbase over the years he’s unquestionably toei’s modern breakout star writer, and every series he writes brings in legions of fujos and emboldens existing ones. i’m probably going to be losing my mind about exaid shipping (and exaid in general) until i die. he really knows how to work a rotten heart. and toei absolutely knows this. fanbases for takahashi’s riders are very loud.
and then the cherry on top of designs by the sk8 designer! a real who’s who of fujo pandering going on here.
i’m not gonna play it though. my brain is rotted by both rider and gacha, but anime boys aren’t the rider appeal at all. having their poster boy being unmasked shows they don’t really get it! this isn’t for real toku fujos, this is for cowards who won’t open their hearts to the eros of suits!! i refuse to accept sharing a fanbase with such low tier fujos!!! you can’t drain my wallet with a weak showing like this, bandai!!!!
oh wow the sk8 designer? Yeah Toei wants those fujo dollars but they're vastly underestimating how much Rider already appeals.
its in an awkward position cus like. this isnt really gonna appeal to real toku fujos for the reasons i stated above. and i think if an anime fujo needs a gacha as a bridge to entertain toku fujoism they were never gonna be a toku fujo anyway.
the anime art isn’t a problem in itself, but at least make it the rider characters i already like instead of a bunch of randoms…
