I don't understand where that trend came from, the whole point of the lav is you don't have to hold it up? It's just clipped to your clothes unobtrusively?
hang it just barely in frame as if it was a poorly-placed boom mic, and use the audio from a different mic
My favourite recurring game show bit is the end of the intro of most episodes of Game Changer where Sam Reich collapses his prop wand microphone and proceeds to use a normal lav mic for the rest of the show.

big branded foam windscreen and mic flag gags. mic flag that's actually a mocap render target and has a channel number written on it in post, that changes randomly for no god damn reason. mic flag that keys itself out of frame and has the local weatherboard behind it. mic flag that's one of those overly animated LED signs over the gyros truck that says "CHICKEN OVER RICE 🐓 $7.99 SODA WATER ARI ZONA ICE TEA 99c BUY 2 GET 1 HALF OFF"
its an ironic statement of how much you dont care about production values compared to more polished content creators
