contemplating a crab's immortality

continually astonished that every year, ages after the last “sportsball” jokes died out, i see a small but real trickle of “don’t make fun of the superbowl! let people enjoy things!” about an unavoidable cornerstone of american culture. like, “war on christmas” levels of disconnect with reality

this is of course biased by my experience of social media but it’s always so confusing to me. like, if you want to feel validated for watching the superbowl you can just, go look at any newspaper or tv channel or talk to anyone who’s not an autistic trans woman?? how have you been deluded into thinking this is a position that needs defending. and also maybe think about why people feel so alienated from the sports culture of the superbowl in the first place, because it’s not exactly a mystery why autistic people and trans people have such mixed feelings about sports!!
