contemplating a crab's immortality

Look, I'm just some dude but I try to express myself in a way that is interesting or I try to get my point across in a cohesive way

I have written for various videogame websites; IGN, Paste Games, and Dorkly to name a few. So, like, I must have been doing something right but I feel like the terminally online have taken the writing mannerisms of experts and critics to make their points sound more professional or something.

It's the things I was speaking about last week, everything and everyone is a brand. You just adopt the things that work for someone else and bolt it onto your personality for the sake of clout or money or whatever fame it could possibly gain you. Not doing the work that others have done and just putting the coat on and playing pretend.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Not everyone is an expert and no one can know everything. Social media has given too many people main character syndrome.

I don't write things to try and impress people, I write because I enjoy expressing myself through writing. And if that means people enjoy what I write and get something out of it or find some respect for me or look to me for some kind of advice, that's just an extra good thing that happens.

All of this to say is that your opinions don't have to matter to everyone. You don't need the attention or respect from everyone. Find your people who you feel comfortable expressing yourself around.

One of the biggest problems with social media is that someone is always there to scrutinize everything you say because it's too large of an audience to have any real growth or learning.

web 2.0 social media like Twitter, Facebook, Tiktok, YouTube... basically any monetizable service, has taught us to believe that making anything has to appeal to an algorithm or to everyone and it has to make money or earn you some clout or fame. it's such a bad thing for human expression whether it's art, criticism, or conversation.
