Dwarf Fortress for Steam (and Itch) is out and fuck this owns. I haven't played in years due to not having the spoons together all at once to set it up again and now I can just press a button and go to dorf hell for several hours.
If you're an old hand at DF, it's not neutered at all. Same ridiculously complex, stupid sims that do dumb things like stand in the rain and complain about it for three days for no apparent reason. Same DF under the graphics and UI overhaul, but the UI overhaul is so welcome and helps me remember which workshops do what.
Only issue I've had so far is a UI bug that makes it difficult to mark animals for slaughter and I picked an embark sight with shallow aquifers so there's damp stone everywhere in my mud fort.
