Thinking-about-it followup; after watching this ep I think I finally have a sense of like, some of what kojima was trying (and tbh failing) to do with zone of the enders 1's narrative and especially Leo's characterization. Like it feels almost glaringly obvious in the light of seeing what must have been an element of its inspiration, and tbh also in seeing how incredibly successful even a single episode of this at depicting the horrors of war where zoe1 falls completely flat trying
(and I'm saying that as someone who considers myself a big fan of those games!)
