contemplating a crab's immortality

I don't even know where to start, I have been positively buzzing all day. It has been a long, long time since I was feeling this excited for and positive about wrestling. Now, that's not to say that I haven't liked anything in that period, of course. Even I would have given up on the company with a period that long. But there's always a couple matches that are just kind of like yeah, sure, that happened. I think the last show where I felt so excited about the ENTIRE CARD, wanted to talk about everything so badly, was probably the... I think Nagoya show? I may be misremembering where it was, but the one where the main was Kyona challenging Momo for the white belt. I don't like being one of those people who's just like "Bushiroad bad", bc Rossy has always had his issues (and a hell of an ego) as a booker that made it hard to not have at least one or two things that made you sigh and go yeah that one was Rossy doing his thing. And this show was just - everything, my god.

Tbc I'm not talking about, like, workrate stuff or anything, I still haven't gotten a chance to sit down and watch the entire show myself, and probably won't for quite a while unless I just say screw it and jump ahead to watch this show. Which I'm considering, but there's enough little things I don't want to skip I don't think I will. I just mean the stories, what happened, what it says about the characters and what it means for everyone going forward.

My thoughts are too incoherent right now for a full, like, rundown post about everything, maybe I'll type that up if I have time later but I'm not promising anything. But every single match said something or had something fun going for it, you know? Just exactly what I want from wrestling, the height of what I'm looking for.

I guess what I want to say is, heading into this show I wondered to friends if titling it "The Conversion" was meant to be meaningful. Stardom had been in one era, and now it was moving into becoming something else again. Finally free of the piss poor management of Harada, fully removed from the influence of Rossy (who I do not believe was just a poor little guy being totally ignored for the last 2 years, don't listen to anything from his camp bc they just lie as they please) and finally stabilizing from needing to adjust for the wrestlers they lost to Marigold, if this was the mission statement First Show of a New Era. And my god do I hope I'm right, because it sure feels like the start of something new, and what an incredible first step to take.

Same.
When I saw "The Conversion" pop on the schedule it felt weirdly... ominous? I was pretty skeptical of everything at first but the whole show ended up feeling so right.
Really hoping it's not a fluke because it got me so hopeful for absolutely everybody on the roster.
(btw welcome to cohost! Your translations are what got me into joshi wrestling so I am happy to see you still enjoy it)
