During the Mint upgrade, there was both a GUI app and a terminal open. When it was, for instance, updating the Apt cache, the GUI app only said “Updating apt cache” with a throbber of some kind. While in the terminal, you saw all this text zip by. It was actually kinda fun, to put the terminal in fullscreen mode, and watch all this text go by; things being downloaded, unzipped, installed, uninstalled &c.

I love watching the text whizz by in the terminal window while it's doing stuff, it's like having a little window that shows you the guts of the machine working inside the case.
