Not... in my experience? The only ad-like things I see on any feeds are individual accounts advertising stuff they make or do, but that isn't ads served through bluesky that they would make money on

Trying to upload a png still converts it into a jpg in the same way it does to a gif, so honestly I’m very surprised it’s working for you
I didn't realize the pngs get converted to jpgs during upload, so that's depressingly surprising. I usually only upload the jpgs from my camera and the edits.
yep, it's kinda shockingly bad. the thread i linked in my post goes over how absurd the file inflation was last year & still is. all jpgs are also scaled to the same arbitrary resolution, whether it's larger or smaller than the uploaded file as well.
twitter has had most of these problems in the past and/or present, still crunches the fuck out of images, and doesn't really fully support gif since it forcibly converts them to mp4s. so i guess bluesky really wanted to not only follow in twitter's shit-filled footsteps, but dig down to even greater depths of incompetence
bluesky is such an interesting example of something, what that is i dont know but its funny how its doing the same incompetent twitter shit
