I wonder if the USB-B SYDNE port actually acts as a USB device if you plug it to another computer.
My (probably wrong) guess is that it exposes a USB-serial adapter, and the serial lines are connected to the motherboard’s COM2 or something. That way the computer and the control box can communicate over a normal USB cable without weird drivers.
