there's probably a way to make an anti-mmorpg
a game where grinding is actually the worst way to play and that you actually have to develop skills
also maybe just drop skill trees, crafting, loot drops and traditional leveling and make some esoteric shit
an MMO where you could be play solo or not and it's viable both ways, no content locks behind social stuff
and make it so it doesn't devolve into WoW or any random survival game or second life
I believe it's doable
but it surely would be a challenge
not like reinventing the wheels, but creating tank tracks instead
