a thing i used to love on the birdsite circa a decade or more ago were little weekly holidays like music monday, follow friday, etc.

of course, music monday doesn’t make any sense. besides the obvious which is that alliteration is the devil’s work, most music comes out on fridays, and fridays are when my friends and i on discord share our tapmusic.net weekly 3x3 album grids with eachother.

anyway: normally i share a little mixtape on music fridays. but there’s been a big uptick in people on here this past week, so i wanted to instead ask people: what’s one song that made you go “oh, fuck yeah!!” most recently?

edit: i compiled all the stuff1 folks commented with into a little playlist, and that's here! i'll add to it if anyone else has a song they wanna shout out!

1: not included: things i couldn't put in a youtube playlist in some fashion. and caveat: a few bands got mentioned, so i pulled their most popular track from last.fm to put on the playlist instead.

oh wow, and this was even a single? i've been listening to a lot of albums from the 60s start-to-finish lately and my sense is that there's just a lot of underappreciated stuff on LPs in that era that didn't make it into compilation albums and made them popular long-term

i'm not going to be narcissistic and say my own band's music (we're "the garages") so instead I'll say i really dove down the metric rabbit hole again recently, pretty much aoll their stuff is good, but i love "Dark Saturday"

But like, say... as a hypothetical, if you were going to say your own band... (eyebrow waggle)

This video for Dark Saturday is so cute, I hadn't seen it before. I listened to Metric a ton circa, well, in 2010 when Scott Pilgrim was in the zeitgist, but haven't kept up with them very well. How did you like Formentera?

I grew up (dating myself here) listening to my dad listen to Galvanize, and a couple weeks ago sat down and listened to their entire discography, their newest album is just as good as the first one

my family has one of those fancy dyson stick vacuums that cost like a million dollars and i got in a mood and started vacuuming the entire house, so i put on headphones and hit the like "my radio" on apple music and it played a few songs and then "the foundations of decay," the song mcr released semi-recently. couple points: 1, thematically so strong. like. so true gerard way, ur right i must fix my heart and build an altar where it swells. 2, made me feel like the fuckin doomslayer coming after all the hair my dog sheds in the carpet constantly

If you’re up for some chill, lovely, somewhat ambient music that’s backed with a soaring voice might I suggest the new EP by Holland Andrews. It came out today. I became aware of her music when she opened (under the name Like a Villan) for Buke and Gase when they played here in SLC. I’m digging it, anyway. http://leiter.lnk.to/Doubtless
