  • The Zone of Interest wins best picture.
  • A bunch of people on the internet get really mad that Barbie did not win. There are a lot of posts about sexism in the film industry, or about the film industry being out of touch with what audiences like. Several people say "I've never even heard of The Zone of Interest."
  • Half the people who made the Barbie posts suddenly backpedal once they realize what The Zone of Interest is about. The other half double down on their original opinion, making some sort of crack about how "WWII movies directed by men always win." (Neither camp actually bothers to see The Zone of Interest.)
  • The resulting discourse storm wipes out 75% of the internet.

Tbh regardless of what movie wins against Barbie, people will use that argument. Don't get me wrong, I loved Barbie, but it doesn't deserve best movie given the competition. And your prediction of people going "wtf is the zone of interest" is already coming true with people saying its another wwii nazi movie about how nazis are cool. Media literacy is DEAD
