ok so apparently the Gundam Metaverse is so poorly constructed that entire CAD models for as-yet-unreleased kits, fully parted out, were found included in the game files unencrypted. someone has already printed the hg rising freedom apparently. that's beautiful. that's incredible. i love that

hey yall who are going "oh damn i wanna download a gundam but dont have a 3d printer"

depending on where you live your library may have one or more makerspaces or differently-named-but-same-concept-areas that offer 3d printing usually just at the price of the resin and maybe a bit more to help afford maintenance

oh I know there are ways, but I don't have a 3D printer or even any 3D modelling software installed to even view them so it's alright. I'm giggling like an idiot at the thought of all this.

Yeah basically all you gotta do is manual panel lining. Checked and they also got the Gunpla box art files in there too so the Daban folks are probably popping off at how easy it is to get some bootlegs going.

I don't know if it WILL get there in the future but you're still not getting the level of accuracy and detail in 3D prints you would get from even the lowest grade gunpla models. Having resin printed a considerable amount at this point, it's impossible to print two pieces that fit perfectly together. There's always (often times considerable) sanding involved. You also have the break points where the supports were printed which can't be cleanly cut like gunpla plastic. Tho if you're just printing entire gundam in a solid block, that's probably okay. 3D printing is great, but it's a nightmare when it comes to precision and piecing together multi-part prints >,<

Not MG, but someone has designed a 3d-printable HG Nether Gundam conversion kit!¹ They also have a 1/35 Tequila Gundam bust and seem to be working on a fully printable SD Nether Gundam.

requires a HG Revive Gundam as the base kit
