The First Purge Review

This sure was The First Purge... movie that I have watched! Was that the best way to approach the series? Possibly not, but I heard that this is the one that's actually explicitly race- and class-conscious in a way the others are not and that's most of what interests me about the concept.
This certainly has a political perspective. It is unambiguous in its portrayal of the titular Purge as fascistic and eugenic. This is correct, obviously, but the underlying premise of the franchise screams so strongly that America is just a set of laws and a bunch of cops away from being a bloodbath that I worry that this entry alone can't possibly wrench it away from that ultraconservative logic.
