The Thomas Crown Affair Review

The plotting here is considerably tighter than the original, but two issues stand out to make me like it less. First, Pierce Brosnan just can't hold a candle to Steve McQueen and the resulting chemistry suffers as a consequence (despite Rene Russo doing great work). Second, the 1999 portrayal of a multimillionaire seen is just vastly harder to stomach, especially today. So much of this film is built around idolizing Crown and his lifestyle, and it's so hard to perceive that as anything but disgusting.
