Nimona Review

I started reading the webcomic back when it was still pretty new and loooooved it, but I haven't reread it since then and I think I'm better able to appreciate this film for it. For me, this hits less as an adaptation of a beloved work and more as the most overtly queer kids' film I've ever seen, and I love it for that in its own right. It's not just a movie with queer stuff in it, it's suffused with a queer—and specifically trans—subjectivity that dramatically outpaces the relatively simplistic surface plot.
