is there a way to get it to stop opening up the homepage every time I go to edit a URL?
it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't add a noticeable delay between tapping the url and actually being able to edit it

It's been a long time since I did it, but it must be possible because I'm running android Firefox and only get the homepage when I open new tabs with no url. I'd imagine it's somewhere in the display settings or something
I don't know if that's possible, but in the homepage settings, you can turn off basically everything that it loads there.
I don't think there is but you can make it way faster by turning off the homepage sponsored links in the settings
