i feel like what i need is a point-and-click demake of fallout: new vegas because i don’t think i care enough to play an FPS but if you take the same story and make it play like disco elysium i definitely would

I think one of the most genuinely interesting things about Fallout: New Vegas from a design standpoint is intrinsic to its form, not necessarily as an FPS but at least as a three dimensional space that the player moves through on foot. FNV is full of weird bits of architecture and spaces that were clearly sculpted by hand but that don't really interact with the plot or the mechanics in any way—what I describe as objects without play. These do so much to establish the game's particular sense of place, as a wasteland that exists to some degree without reference to your desires as a player, and I don't think it would be possible to translate them into a 2D context the way it would the more mechanical narrative aspects.
