@nex3 asked:

what's a game you really like that you also consider far outside your usual wheelhouse?

I like this question! Because honestly the answer is that sometimes there's a game that I think is out of my wheelhouse but instead it makes me realize that there's an entrance to a wheelhouse that I previously thought wasn't mine. Like, Inscryption. I was pretty certain I hated deckbuilders! But this one, which from what I hear from the real sickos is kind of super broken in terms of deckbuilders, put the sickness in me, and then before you know it I'm spending hours and hours on Cobalt Core. (Side note: despite having the disease in me now I have no interest in Balatro; I need my deckbuilding to have some sort of Narrative or Little Guys element or it doesn't hold me.) Similarly Hades put the roguelike disease in me.

I had previously thought that the Yakuza/Like a Dragon games that weren't JRPGs were not things I could really play but. haha. ha. ha. whoo boy. turned out I was very wrong there. Very wrong. I had an incorrect idea in my mind from initially playing Y3 in 2010 that I was too thumb-dumb to play it, but I have since proven that assumption so wrong, so very very wrong. Like, I play on easy, but that's what they put easy there for.
