When I first played Elden Ring, I liked different bosses different amounts, but by and large I was positive on them. Coming back and playing through twice more, I found my affection growing for all of them. I think the hit rate in this game is frankly astonishing! But both of those runs kinda petered out just before the very end of the game. I never actually fought the last few bosses, partly because I remembered Elden Beast specifically being one of my least favorite fights in the entire canon.

In my latest pre-DLC run, I wanted to actually end the game. Tonight I did it: I defeated Elden Beast for the first time since my first run in 2022, and I did it without deciding "fuck this actually" and summoning Mimic Tear. And you know what?

It still blows. Fuck that fight to its bones. Who thought that was a good idea, and who thought it was okay to put it behind such a massive loading screen? I just want to talk.

I'm glad it's not just me, that thing is SUCH a pain to fight. Constantly jumping fifty miles away to cast huge fuckoff beams while you try to sprint towards it to get a fucking hit in
