my most inconsequential pet peeve is that I strongly believe it should be spelled "dammit" and that the spelling "damnit" completely ruins the visual-rhythmic impact of the word

Huh. I always thought it was exclusively "dammit" as one word and exclusively "damn it" as two.
im just gonna have dammit by blink 182 stuck in my head for the next week now thanks to this post (its right though)
