I am learning that the problem with this is that I've actually already played like 95% of the 3DS games that I'm interested in. There's plenty of DS backlog left for me, but the 3DS library proper is actually not that deep, especially if I'm not particularly interested in Pokémon

this is sooooo smart. I've found a lot of the 3rd party chargers I buy wear down pretty quick too, so this might be something I have to look into 👀

Yeah honestly the best device is a modded DSi XL, I own one (OG unit I've had since release, surprisingly still kicking with original battery and all) and it's a delight to play DD games at native res, no scaling, on such a large and bright screen.

It's surprising how much more DS games than 3ds games there are worth playing, most of the notable 3ds library is first party. Though I will say any etrian odyssey is worth your time!

give https://github.com/skyfloogle/red-viper a look if you haven't - it's great to play VB Wario Land in greyscale (or your choice of tint) and the 3DS's lenticular screen
