not quite an answer, but we once saw a theory that mitochondria or equivalent endosymbiotic organelles in-universe are Pokémon in evolutionary origin, hence why some humans show Type-coded physical traits

One thing to take into account is that the humans we see in the Pokémon universe (basically) all participate in Pokémon training/battle. Metaphysically, this can be viewed like so: they are possessed by us—and we are godlike beings from another dimension who force them to capture, enslave, and torture unwitting sentient beings in their environment for our own inscrutable amusement.

Humans in the Pokémon universe are living in a Lovecraftian horror story.

iirc humans and pokemon have a common ancestor. there's a book in gen 4 that mentions that there used to be no difference between humans and pokemon

I maintain they are just normal type pokemon. They can even learn psychic and fighting moves!

Especially since the pokedex entry that says Oranguru sometimes catch other pokemon in pokeballs and give them orders
