The Lady from Shanghai Review

With Welles's characteristically superb direction and excellent moment-to-moment dialog, I can easily imagine the original cut of this being truly magnificent. What actually exists is still very good, with the lackluster plot that relies on O'Hara being dumb as a box of rocks balanced out by the stunning hall of mirrors scene, which could only have been better if it were twenty minutes long as originally planned.
