once again marveling at how much the tedium of writing meticulously detailed test cases correlates with their efficacy at actually catching bugs. this is a way better metaphor for eating your vegetables than "eating your vegetables" because vegetables can actually be tasty

Shamelessly reposting this even though I’ve never actually done test driven development.
I spent close to half a year writing unit tests for my UTF-8 library. I can still look at any random byte and tell you whether it's a continuation byte.
