Hello everyone. I don't normally express myself much outside of Discord, but cohost feels like a much more comfortable place to be than Twitter. I hope cohost can sustain itself; we need more services and companies that operate like this.
Anyway! I'm Nibble.
I was a kid of the 90's and have been using computers since I was 4 or so, so naturally I have an attraction towards retro tech and games. At 11/12ish I taught myself QBasic and had a blast with it. My first major undertaking at the time was attempting to clone ZZT, a niche ASCII-based game engine for MS-DOS. Sadly the source for my project has long been lost to time, but I got surprisingly far with it, even if the performance was garbage.
Today I still program, with Rust as my preferred go-to language if I have a choice. I keep an eye on newer or less-popular languages like Zig, Odin, Nim; I like them all for different reasons.
Besides computery things, I'm also into 90's-style first person shooters (or "boomer shooters" as they're colloquially known), and more recently quirky RPGs like Undertale and Deltarune. More generally, I suppose I'm attracted to games that show a lot of personality and uniqueness, and aren't overly complex.
Hoping I'll meet similarly-minded and colorful people here. From the searching I've been doing while in verification purgatory, seems that I'll probably like it here!
a little tag spam so people can find me, I suppose?
